Living in Houston means Jim knows two things: extreme heat and stifling humidity. A former industrial HVAC technician, Jim specializes in the long-term durability of pool equipment in coastal environments.
His role on the team is to take every heater apart. He examines the quality of the heat exchangers (looking for titanium or high-grade copper) and checks the casing’s resistance to rust and salt-air corrosion.
Jim ensures our readers in humid or coastal areas know which heaters will last a decade and which will succumb to the elements in two seasons.
He is an avid coastal fisherman who spends his weekends on the Gulf, which gives him plenty of time to observe how different materials hold up against salt and moisture.
Jim manages our “Maintenance & Troubleshooting” guides, using his years of repair experience to help you avoid common pitfalls like pump failure or clogged filters.
